Private tour to visit the home to the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, which features hundreds of artworks across villages, rice fields, and mountains, offering a deep connection between people, art, and the land.
Tour Details
Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale is a popular international art festival held once every 3 years, which aims to revitalize the beautiful Echigo Tsumari area by uncovering its hidden charms through art. As more than 300 of open-air exhibitions and site-specific art works utilizing the nature of "satoyama", abolished schools, and renovated old houses are scattered in the area of 760km2, it's best to visit them by car while enjoying the scenery.
Even when the festival isn’t on, you can still enjoy a tour of fascinating outdoor art and permanent installations throughout the area.
Tour starts from Myoko or a meeting point/train station in the Echigo-Tsumari Art Field area.
We will visit one or two of the following areas (representative art work/facility) with our recommended or your requested sites for one-day tour:
- Matsudai (Tsumari in bloom by Yayoi Kusama, etc.)
- Tokamachi (MonET, etc.)
- Matsunoyama (Kyororo, etc.)
- Nakazato (Tunnel of Lights, etc.)
